Ultrabook Vs. Laptop

Ever since Intel announced the concept of ultrabook, the tech giants has started manufacturing this evolved form of laptops and today you can see them dominating the market. These ultrabook has bought revolution in the market as the future of laptops and are said to replace the netbooks and tablets. If you are planning to buy one of these forms of laptop first know which suites your usage better.

1. Totally Different

Ultrabooks are totally different from laptops. They are lighter, faster, thinner and more portable than regular laptops. Ultrabooks are made with specific guidelines; they should be within the 20 mm thickness, highly powerful with lower power consumption using Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors.

2. Portability

Portability is the main difference between ultrabook and a laptop, without compromising the performance. The display size is as same as the laptops in various sizes. But ultrabooks are mainly concentrated to be slim and lightweight, within 20 mm thickness and not more than 1.4 kilogram. Well the laptops are also reducing weights and competing with ultrabooks with weighing just 1.5 kilogram.

3. Storage

Ultrabooks comes with the next generation Solid-State Drive (SSD) as a primary storage instead for traditional Hard Disk Drives (HDD) as seen in the regular laptops. The SSD is a good option for ultrabooks as they provide a quick boot time, faster data read and write speed and is very silent. While HDD take more time to read and write data, makes annoying spinning sound and produce more heat.

4. Display

Ultrabooks are available in multiple display sizes from 11, 13, 14 inch and even higher. Ultrabooks are surely the laptop or desktop replacement. But as per the Intel’s ultrabook concept; the display size of an actual ultrabook should be 11 or 13 inch. Within this size the ultrabook feel more portable and comfortable to handle. Laptop also comes with various sizes form 13, 14, 15 inch and some laptops go even higher up to 19 and 20 inches. But carrying a bulky 20 inch laptop doesn’t sound so good.

5. Battery Life

Battery life has been improved in the ultrabooks as it uses the low volt Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors. Not all ultrabook comes with better battery life, but comparing to laptops most of the ultrabooks have improvised battery without compromising the performance and thickness.

6. Price

Well laptops has a starting price of Rs.25000 and ultrabooks has a starting price of Rs.50,000. Of course ultrabook are very expensive because of its elegant design, portability, slim and faster processing, but the decisive factor should be taken after knowing that the basic functionality of both ultrabook and laptop are same; you just have to make-up your mind on how much you’re ready pay more for speed, style and portability.
